If you live in the south or plan on visiting, we have a few favorite outdoor locations that are must-visits. We complied a mix of places full of adventure, perfect for clearing the mind or to bring your camera along:
Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, be prepared for a day full of adventure! The US National Whitewater Center has whitewater rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, zip lines, ropes courses and a 25+ mile trail.
The Outer Banks is a great beach location for adventure or relaxation. A variety of towns and islands make up the banks. For history buffs, the lighthouses and Roanoke Island are more than just eye candy.
Love to hike? Start your journey on the Appalachian Trail at Springer Mountain in Georgia. The trail goes for 2,180+ miles all the way up to Maine. However many miles you decide to tackle, the views along the way are worth it!
Drive or hike it, the Blue Ridge Parkway is another journey for the books. The parkway starts in Cherokee, NC and winds through Virginia to Front Royal. The 469 miles of road goes between the Shenandoah and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
No roads, no cars, no bridges, but there are boats! Experience island life without commercial development. Bring your fishing pole, pack a lunch and set out on a day of sun and fun.
Packed full of history, Darien is sometimes a missed location against bigger sisters of Savannah and Charleston. Darien is known for its history, but also for its adventures of the Altamaha River.
Life is an adventure, set out to experience something new this weekend (or next weekend because, Super Bowl, of course).
